Why the Blog has been quiet…

The next train to leave the station on platform 6 is the 15.58 to Exuseville. Well I better board!

All jokes aside, the blog has been looking a little bit bleak in recent months. It calls out to me everyday, I know its there and I know its importance, but my blogging mojo has been a little low in this time of ‘world being turned upside down due to house renovations’.

I know that doesn’t seem like much of an excuse when you have bloggers that are travelling all over, or working full time and juggling a blog and they sill manage to do it which is awesome.

But there are a few holdbacks for me at the moment which has made my blogging life a little bit harder. Now lets start with the obvious. My house is a shit hole. It’s been a shit hole for a few months now. Everything is out of place, there are holes in walls, flooring missing, piles of materials stacked up waiting to be used not to mention its a continuous cycle of laundry everywhere. I know I have a studio specifically for my work, its an office with plenty of filming space. It’s a perfect controlled environment for filming, however I want my blog to be a little, well close to home, not white white white.

I want to use this space to express feelings, mind bogglings, personal style, beauty and anything that I need space to clear my mind. So with regards to taking photos for the blog, when my surroundings are so chaotic, I cant really get great images with all this going on around me.

I know sometimes its nice to see content thats a little more relatable and stepping away from the typical white marble rose gold blogger mansion aesthetic, however showing off my new favourite lip products with Matthew’s Festool collection laying around isn’t the most well, visually pleasing.

Excuse number two is that I have no one to help me take photos. Unfortunately I don’t have a boyfriend or a flatmate thats around a lot and savvy with a camera, I mean Maff tries bless him, but its a struggle to get a money shot. So getting an outfit shot out and about photos is so hard and I refuse to do static shots against my white wall, that would be so boring! There are so many inspiring blogs that get me excited like Zoe’s, Lily’s and Victoria’s that I love and aspire to be like and I wont settle for second best.

So what I’m saying without sounding like a moaning Myrtle is that I don’t want to do a half arsed job. I want my blog to be inspiring too and nice to read and for it to look good. Im an all or nothing kinda girl. The blog may be on hold for a little while longer until the house is all beautiful and I can finally do some lifestyle content. Im going to try trickle some posts in in the mean time, test out the studio for photos, but if there is anything you’d like me to write about that wouldn’t really require MY photos, then let me know. love to get feedback on what you like to read.

Hi there Helen! I’ve been watching your videos for a while and been reading your blog alot recently (despite the lack of posts!). Always take your time with posts. I know what you mean by quality. As a new blogger, I’ve felt the same. If the post is no good, I won’t write it until it’s perfect! Posts that would be fab right now is maybe asos wishlist haul? Things you could pull out of your wishlist bag on asos and show us. Also, autumn boots/shoes. This would be amazinggg, I need some and your expertise would be lovely! I’m so sorry this is a massive comment :’) all the love! X

I know how you feel about the whole photo thing. I don’t think people realise how bloody important photos are! It’s hard to get a good shot whilst someone is helping you let alone on your own.

Take your time, no biggie, your YouTube channel has always got great content so don’t beat yourself up too much!

Outfit shots are the hardest to get right aren’t they! You have to be in front of the lens even though youd rather be behind it cause you know exactly what you want from the actual photography perspective. If only we could be in two places at once! X

as long as we can keep getting a little bit of your style and craziness on youtube that’ll keep us going until you get your blogging mojo back! :) x

I can definitely see why not having someone to take photos for you can impact your blog. My friend and I started taking photos of each other at Uni and its made life so much easier!

Oh damn. I wish I lived close by, I’m a start up photographer always looking for a model or pictures to take to improve my portfolio. I love your videos Helen ❤ and everything you said makes perfect sense. I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my work, and your videos are always PERFECTION.

The blog photo problem is real! I love shooting outside with street art but finding someone who has the time and patience to work with is tough. Also don’t be too hard on yourself house shit is hard and you are killing it on YouTube.

I’m pretty sure we can all forgive you, Helen. Perfectly reasonable sounding excuses and you’re killing it on youtube, Rotterdam looked like so much fun!

I completely understand where you’re coming from! Although we’re not renovating, we were supposed to move house this month into our first owned property and its been delayed by 2-3 months now. Living in boxes and also homing a new dog who isn’t 100% house trained amongst all of this is a nightmare, but we’ll get there :) I hope Matthews arm is okay too! x
