Spoiling Yourself is Not a bad thing.

Its been my birthday, yeah I know, I feel like I’ve going on about it quite a bit. So instead of doing a write up of what I got up to, which is pretty apparent from all my posts recently, I’d talk about it in a different light.

I always receive texts on my birthday like ‘hope you get spoilt rotten’ which I’m assuming we all receive something along those lines. Im lucky to have my incredible friends and family to be there for me and receive the gifts I do.

But gone are the days for me (without this coming out wrong) of expecting gifts. I feel that I am at an age and feeling in good in my position in life that if I wanna treat myself and spoil myself for my birthday, I will. I find it really bizarre that lets say for example, Matthew is expected (from society and romcoms) to wine and dine me and spoil me on my birthday. Hell no I don’t expect that. If I want to do something extravagant on my birthday, then i’ll do it. And I’ll do it my way.

We went to London for the night, it might be the control freak in me, but I planned and paid for the whole thing and it was perfect! There is no shame in doing things for yourself on your special day. It doesn’t mean that everyone else did a shit job or didn’t care. But it means that you want to have a day for yourself, to do what you want, spend what you want and you can because its YOUR BIRTHDAY.

I don’t want or expect anything from my nearest and dearest as I love them enough to not need material things, however I see the birthday as a day where you celebrate YOU for the day. It meant more to me that my friends came to my party rather than what they brought me.

Its fine to be independant and not reliant on other people to make your day happy. It doesn’t mean that its not romantic, or that they don’t care and its nothing to be ashamed of if you choose to take your celebrations in your own hands.

    Happy Birthday!
Totally on board with doing it your own way, doing what you want and paying for yourself. I like treating myself so why wouldn’t I do it on my own birthday!

Another bomb post. I spent my last birthday single, and didn’t do anything because I didn’t think to just arrange exactly what I want to do and treat myself – but this is exactly what I plan to do this year!! I hope you had a wonderful birthday :-)
